PUSH GETS A BOOST!
New entry pack launched
and The Beehive Pub Restaurant, White Waltham confirm sponsorship
deal.
The 33rd annual WAMDSAD Wheelchair Push, one of the major
fundraising events in the Royal Borough charity calendar,
has just been launched. And this year it is sure to buzz
– The Beehive Pub Restaurant, White Waltham has confirmed
its sponsorship of this year’s event ensuring The
Push gets off to a great start. And a new look entry pack
bearing the slogan “Give us a Push – sign up
today!” has been developed aiming to attract more
entries than ever before. The date of the event is Saturday
11th July.
WAMDSAD President and Push Organiser John Jenkins enthused:
“The Push is our major fundraising event of the year
by far. Over the years it has raised hundreds of thousands
of pounds for WAMDSAD helping us to get where we are today.
It is very colourful and a lot of fun involving many hundreds
of people, not least our stalwart Pushing Teams. We are
absolutely delighted that The Beehive Pub Restaurant, White
Waltham is backing us this year – it’s a great
boost.”
WAMDSAD are aiming to recruit dozens of Pushing Teams this
year from any willing organisation in the district looking
for a fun day out. Teams are invited to push disabled members
of WAMDSAD in wheelchairs over a road route embracing Windsor,
Slough, Eton and Maidenhead, ideally wearing fancy dress,
collecting money along the way and sponsorship through their
efforts. All interested groups should contact the WAMDSAD
Office on 01628 627690 to request an Entry Pack.
Jenkins continued: “This year we
are hoping to raise £20,000. Every penny raised will
go directly to helping our members participate in sport
and recreation and with several already in training for
the 2012 Paralympics we need all the help we can get.”
Guy Martin, Landlord of The Beehive, summed
it up “We are delighted to support WAMDSAD. Our Beehive
Pushing Team is already in training and ready to set the
pace for any other local pubs who will be participating
this year. We look forward to what will be a great day!”
