GREG
AT THE LONDON
GOLF SHOW
Well
if there was ever a star in the making it has to be Greg
Airth. Greg a member of WAMDSAD and the golf section joined
the GOLF-at-HOME team last week at The London Golf show to
help promote Golf for those with disabilities. He had his
own demonstration slot every day on the Driving range at the
show, and Karen Peters (WAMDSAD's golf coach) commentated
on his behalf whilst he demonstrated that golf is for everyone
despite disabilities.
He
got quite a crowd, and Yash Airth and GOLF-at-HOME's assistant
Jeannette Pascoe helped raise £90 for the golf section
by selling Ball Markers donated by GOLF-at-HOME.
Greg
was also featured in the Show guide to help highlight the
work being done to promote more people with disabilities to
take up the game. He is now a member of Handigolf and will
be entering into competitions for the disabled around the
UK
this summer. As Greg
is a wheelchair user, through Handigolf he has a specially
designed golf buggy that allows him to play golf from a seated
position (even on the green). We would like to thank Greg
and Yash for giving up their time to supporting WAMDSAD and
GOLF-at-HOME over the 4 days of the show. “it was a very
tiring 4 days and Greg and Yash were superb, Greg hit better
shots than most of the golfers at the show so he did himself
and WAMDSAD proud” (Karen Peters).
There
are about 4 regular members who help maintain the Golf Section
but we need more. You don't have to be disabled to join us,
and you don't have to know how to play. Karen will provide
coaching for all, and you can join us on a Wednesday either
between 10am-11am
or
11am-12pm .
For those that can't make that day please contact the office
and let us know what days are good for you. Karen will provide
an extra evening or a weekend session depending on enquiries,
you just need to let us know.
