WAMDSAD OPENS NEW EXTENSION TO SPORTS
CLUB

WAMDSAD formally opened their new £150,000
extension to their sports club on the evening of Wednesday
29 November.
Performing the opening ceremony was rugby
legend Shaun Edwards, well known in the League game for his
36 appearances for Great Britain, and now having switched
codes, equally well known as Head Coach for London Wasps.
WAMDSAD has had a close relationship with the Wasps rugby
club for some years now.
In
welcoming the guests, Mike Davis, Operations Director of WAMDSAD
thanked the main sponsors of the project, the Michael Shanly
Charitable Trust, the Wooden Spoon Society, the Louis Baylis
(Maidenhead Advertiser) Charitable Trust and the ACT Foundation,
for their valuable support. The extension will increase the
sports activity space by at least 50% and provide flexibility
in the programming of sports at all levels for members and
others in the community.
In his speech, Shaun Edwards said that he
has for many years admired the way that disabled people overcome
their disabilities to play sport, and that WAMDSAD should
be proud of the work it does to enable those people to achieve
their dreams.
A short reception was held afterwards when
the guests had an opportunity to see the Archery section in
action in the main hall. The new hall will be used for Table
Tennis, Boccia, Pilates and other recreational sports.
