Volunteers
We always need extra volunteers: individuals and teams to help us
with our many events. You can help make a huge difference for us, by
volunteering with events, street collections, and participation with
activities. In return WAMDSAD will help you enjoy meeting new
friends, become involved with sport at WAMDSAD and the great social
atmosphere we actively encourage throughout the year. It is great
fun too!If you would like to volunteer, we would love to hear from you
please contact us.
What we say about our volunteers
Without all our fantastic volunteers WAMDSAD would not exist or be
able to continue to function. Every day, week, month, year, new
volunteers become involved in the Club – adding to the army of great
volunteers who already do so very much for WAMDSAD. Sarah Blackmun,
Clare Wilcox, Steve Kearsey and Peter Vaughan, who all help our
disabled swimmers, have been presented with Windsor and Maidenhead
Voluntary Action awards. These extraordinary people, aged between
15-17, give up their Sunday evenings to help our swimmers on a
one-to-one basis at the pool sessions.
WAMDSAD swimming organiser Val Jones praised them for their hard
work and dedication. “Without our band of volunteers WAMDSAD would
be unable to carry on with these important sports sessions”. Sarah
and Claire also help at the Club’s
Friday Fun Sports Club for
children.
Add to these remarkable youngsters a long list of other volunteers
who give up their time to help out with all the activities of
WAMDSAD – the sports sections, the many committee meetings – all
attended by Members who give up their evenings and weekends to do a
great deal of work to keep the Club running. Also the tireless
fundraising volunteers who work so hard to raise much needed funds
to keep the Club going as WAMDSAD continues to be one of the top
clubs in the country. See our current list of
activities or
events.
