PRESENTATION OF THE QUEEN’S AWARD FOR VOLUNTARY SERVICE 2006

Earlier this year, WAMDSAD, the Maidenhead based sports association for the disabled, learned that the club had been awarded this prestigious honour by HM The Queen.

On the evening of Wednesday 18 October, the presentation was made to WAMDSAD by the Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire, Mr Philip Wroughton. On arrival at the WAMDSAD clubhouse, the Lord Lieutenant was greeted by Mr John Jenkins, President of WAMDSAD, and welcomed by Mr Ray Fields, Vice Chairman of WAMDSAD and Director of Sport. The Lord Lieutenant responded and presented the Queen’s Award – a commemorative crystal glass pillar ad certificate – to three senior members of the club, Mrs Jean Schaffer, Mr Geoff Mason and Mr John Greaves, before concluding his speech.

Also attending the presentation were members of the club, officers of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, local MP the Hon. Theresa May and nominators of WAMDSAD for the award.
